The right e-commerce platform will help you run your business efficiently. It will also help give your customers a good user experience. You should look for one that fits your business needs. We will look at some of the best platforms available in the market.

·         Bigcommerce

Bigcommerce is ideal for retail brands and will work well for anyone who is just starting on the online platform. The user interface is friendly, and you can customize your store without knowing any coding language. You get several themes, but you will have to pay for most of them. It allows for flexibility, multi-channel selling, help with SEO, among other great features. You also get access to developers and designers anytime you need help.

The lowest package starts at $29 per month. Some of the features you get include gift cards, check out codes, reporting, and unlimited bandwidth. You, however, do not get custom SSL, 1- click selling or upselling, nor the abandoned cart saver.

·         Shopify

Shopify is a very popular platform, and it’s fantastic for those who sell via Instagram, Facebook, and dropshipping. It is an excellent platform for small to medium-sized businesses. Even those with big stores can still benefit from the features it has. Set-Up is easy using the drag and drop interface. You can sell across multiple channels by integrating your Shopify store with them. The lowest subscription package comes in at $9. You have a wide range of themes to choose from, and they are easy to install. Shopify payments allow you to conduct transactions without paying any fee. This is quite important when planning your online business

You may have some difficulty understanding the Liquid coding language. You may also not be able to customize the Checkout process. Some of the apps can be quite costly, so you have to be careful about the ones you download. If you use third-party payment gateways, you will have to pay a transaction fee.

·         3dcart

3dcart has many fantastic pictures you will enjoy, including zero transaction fees and unlimited storage. You have access to a POS and can also do multi-channel selling. You do not need an API to use the advanced shipping solution, which is the one thing that makes the platform stand out. It is a fantastic platform for blogging; you can integrate different apps and get management tools such as inventory, email, QuickBooks, among others.

If you are new to this, you will not be able to use 3dcart. It is not very user-friendly, and you may require an expert to build the store for you. It does not have a drag-and-drop feature, and some of the customization aspects may be too technical. You, however, have access to developers in the online community who can assist you with some of the functions.

You also get a restriction on the number of sales you can do for each plan. You also do not get the abandoned cart saver as a core feature. The customer support is also not very strong, and you may have an issue with some of the upgrades.

·         Woocommerce

Woocommerce is an excellent platform for those who wish to combine affiliate marketing and e-commerce. You get multiple integrations that assist with shipping, 1-click selling, social media, email marketing, among others. It is easy to install, but you may need some WordPress knowledge; otherwise, you may struggle with some of the technical aspects. It is a free platform, with a wide number of free themes, but you may have to buy some of the more advanced ones.

It may also not be the friendliest platform for scalability. The more processes you put on the platform, the slower it becomes. You also do not get technical support, and looking for good hosting options can be a bit pricey.

E-commerce Platforms to create an Online Business

·         Volusion

Volusion is easy to set up, and you get 11 free themes with an option to buy the more premium ones. You get a lot of support right from the dashboard, which makes it very convenient for beginners. You have several benefits, including inventory management, a robust marketing system, and flexibility with sitemaps, among others.

You will also have to buy the SSL certificate, which we feel is one of the main disadvantages of this platform. It does not support blogging, which makes it weak concerning SEO. The subscription package you choose will determine how many products you can sell. The lowest plan at $29 allows you to sell only 100 products.

·         Weebly

Weebly stands out because it has marketing automation as an inbuilt feature. It allows you to set up a simple store, and you will pay about $38 a month. The drag and drop editing tool makes it easy to customize your store, and you get access to several themes, both free and paid. Be careful about the extensions you choose because some are not mobile-friendly. It is an excellent platform for anyone who is new to e-commerce and does not want to hire a developer to do it for them.

You get three subscription packages, but for your online store, you may want to consider the Business and Performance ones. The most basic has certain features like inventory management, shopping cart, coupons, among others. You will also like the mobile app, which gives you the perfect tool to run your business. You can also print shipping labels using the app.

What you may not like about the platform is that you pay a transaction fee, and you miss out on platforms such as Amazon. Inventory management is also very basic, and it may not be the best tool for search engine optimization.

We have looked at some of the e-commerce platforms you can consider for your business. There are still many others which offer amazing benefits at friendly prices. Such include Magento, Squarespace, Wix, among others. With all the available platforms, it can be daunting, but once you determine what your needs are, it makes it easy for you to choose a platform. Whichever one you choose should be easy to use and allow for scalability. You do not want to keep changing your platform, the more your business grows.
